Rural College Promise:

Building Regional Talent Strategies for Rural Communities

Background

Following the success of urban-based talent-building coalitions such as Dallas County Promise, a partnership of educational leaders united to develop a working model for replicating this success in rural communities.  In partnership with Economic Mobility Systems (EMS) and Rural Community College Alliance, NVision has worked with five community colleges in rural Texas – Tyler Junior College, North Central Texas College (NCTC), Grayson College, South Texas College (STC) and Howard College – to develop new and powerful strategies and tools for rural talent ecosystems.

Approach

Since 2020, NVision has provided external marketing and stakeholder communications strategies and support to the five participating rural community colleges and their affiliated program partners across rural Texas, notably including the launch of four new programs: Red River Promise, led by NCTC; Texoma Promise, led by Grayson College; Valley Promise, led by STC, and Open Roads Promise, led by Howard College. Through this work, the team has developed and honed best practices for marketing Rural College Promise programs as a sustainable model for future program launches.
